About me

Sophia Tsang, a native of Hong Kong, is a versatile media composer and pianist whose creative journey spans genres and cultures. She has worked on several short films in various genres, crafting compositions that enhance storytelling and emotional depth. Besides films, she also has experience writing for Chinese opera, showcasing a modern approach that blends tradition with innovation to captivate audiences with fresh interpretations. Video game scoring is also one of her interests, and she has a list of relevant works.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Sophia plays piano, Gu Zheng, harpsichord, and organ. Her musical palette is diverse, ranging from classical and orchestral to experimental, jazz, and World music.

She earned a Bachelor of Music (highest distinction) in piano performance at Indiana University Bloomington, under the tutelage of Evelyne Brancart and Spencer Myer. She later completed a program at UCLA Extension in film scoring and further honed her craft in music production. Additionally, she is studying privately with composer Steve Rothstein.
